Reflection

Studies have shown that the most effective path to long-term change is a positive one rather than a negative.

I was listening recently to the Climate Changed podcast from the BTS Center. The BTS Center was formerly the Bangor Theological Seminary in Portland Maine. Originally founded over 200 years ago, it was a seminary for the United Church of Christ. Since 2013, when the seminary closed, it has provided ecumenical spiritual leadership programs serving individuals and communities from varied faith traditions.

The podcast featured speaker was Rabbi Ora Nitkin-Kaner of Creation Justice Ministries. She spoke about the need to change climate action approaches from “telling, yelling and selling” to “tending, mending and befriending.” I have found that using a positive approach can be helpful in many situations.

When I began to focus on finding joy in the wonders of nature, I looked at my life and my relationship to God in a whole new way. Why not try it too!
